Heyy I’m Shahena!

I’m a bridal hair, makeup, and henna artist with over a decade of experience. I started my journey in this industry in 2009, shortly after having my second child. Helping brides feel beautiful on their special day is a truly rewarding experience.

Growing up, I was fascinated by technology—computers and mobile gadgets were my thing. I even started a career in IT but became a mum to two wonderful kids before I could complete my studies. That’s when I started looking for a career that would give me the flexibility to work around my family. I discovered Asian bridal hair and makeup artistry, and it felt like the perfect fit. I took a course, built my skills, and launched my own freelance business.

Back then, promoting a business was challenging without today’s tech and social media. I advertised in magazines and on platforms like Gumtree, constantly improving my skills and building a strong portfolio, which was essential for growing my clientele. Word of mouth became my best marketing tool.

When Covid hit, my business had to pause, and it pushed me to explore new entrepreneurial opportunities. Over time, I’ve tried different business models and even earned thousands online. I’ve learned that diversifying income streams is key, and now I’m expanding my business while sharing my journey on this blog.
