Heyy folks! Salam and welcome! Today I have another Iftar idea… Oats and Almond Milk Porridge with Berries.
This porridge is not only nourishing and filling but also packed with natural sweetness and flavour. It’s the perfect way to break your fast gently, giving you a boost of energy without feeling too heavy. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to get the kids to enjoy something healthy…the berries make it feel like a treat!
So, let’s do this!
Oats and Almond Milk Porridge with Berries

Serves: 4
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats (or gluten-free oats if needed)
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries – whatever you like!)
- A handful of chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pistachios work well)
- A drizzle of extra honey or maple syrup (optional, for serving)
Method
- Cook the oats: In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats, almond milk, water, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Let it thicken: Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oats are soft and the porridge has reached your desired consistency. If you like it thicker, cook for a bit longer. If you prefer it thinner, add a splash more almond milk or water.
- Add the flavour: Stir in the vanilla extract and honey or maple syrup (if using). Taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking.
- Serve and top: Ladle the porridge into bowls and top with a generous handful of fresh berries. Sprinkle over some chopped nuts for a bit of crunch, and if you’re feeling indulgent, drizzle with a little extra honey or maple syrup.
- Enjoy warm: This porridge is best served warm, making it the perfect comforting dish to break your fast with.
Tips from me
- If you’re short on time, you can make this porridge in the microwave. Just combine the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Feel free to customise the toppings! Sliced bananas, a spoonful of nut butter, or even a sprinkle of chia seeds would work beautifully.
- This porridge is naturally vegan if you use maple syrup instead of honey, making it a great option for everyone at the table.
A simple, healthy and utterly delicious Oats and Almond Milk Porridge with Berries that’s perfect for Iftar. It’s a dish that’s as comforting as it is nutritious and it’s always a hit with my family (even the little ones!).
I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy it as much as we do. Let me know how it turns out in the comments below…I’d love to hear your thoughts! Wishing you all a blessed Ramadan!
