It’s tea time! Turmeric and Ginger Herbal Tea Recipe for Iftar

Salaaaaam my lovelies! Today, I’m sharing a recipe that is powerful! That’s Turmeric and Ginger Herbal Tea.

This tea is not only incredibly healthy but also bursting with warm, spicy, and comforting flavours…perfect for gently breaking your fast and giving your body a little boost. Turmeric and ginger are both known for their anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits, making this tea a wonderful choice after a long day of fasting. Plus, it’s caffeine-free, so you can enjoy it any time of day! After Ramadan of course hahaha!

It’s time……..

Turmeric and Ginger Herbal Tea

Serves: 2
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp fresh turmeric, grated (or ½ tsp ground turmeric)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or ½ tsp ground cinnamon)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • A squeeze of lemon juice (optional, for a zesty kick)
  • A pinch of black pepper (helps with turmeric absorption)

Method

  1. Boil the water: In a small saucepan, bring the water to a gentle boil.
  2. Add the spices: Once the water is boiling, add the grated turmeric, grated ginger, and cinnamon stick. If you’re using ground spices, add them now too. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.
  3. Strain and sweeten: After simmering, strain the tea into mugs or teacups to remove the grated bits and cinnamon stick. Stir in the honey or maple syrup (if using) and a squeeze of lemon juice for a refreshing twist. Don’t forget a pinch of black pepper – it’s not just for flavour; it helps your body absorb the goodness of turmeric!
  4. Serve and enjoy: Sip your turmeric and ginger tea warm, letting its soothing flavours and warmth comfort you after a long day of fasting.

Some tips if you wish…

  • If you’re using fresh turmeric and ginger, you can grate them directly into the saucepan or use a tea infuser for easier straining.
  • Feel free to customise this tea to your taste. A slice of orange, a sprig of fresh mint, or even a dash of cardamom would work beautifully.
  • This tea is perfect for making in larger batches. Just store it in the fridge and reheat gently when you’re ready to enjoy it.

That’s all folks! Simple and nutritious! Day or night. Give it a go!

I hope you give this recipe a try and let me know what you think. Wishing you a blessed Ramadan filled with love, joy, and repentance!

Until next time,

Love
